Dignity Peace and Prosperity

New Development and Relief Organization (NDRO) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profitable and non-political Afghan NGO that has been established by a group of Afghan women and men professionals in 2020 and formally registered with the Ministry of Economy, Afghanistan under registration # 4884.

NDRO is a humanitarian organization that comes from its experience working with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. More importantly, the development and growth of the organization have been through experiencing critical and emergency situations in the country. While such a situation put NDRO in a position to be fully prepared to take part in responding to emergency circumstances lately emerged in Afghanistan as well as have effective interventions in various humanitarian assistance with main focus on hanger relief, assist the most vulnerable group of the community to recover from crisis, protect children and work for empowerment of women in the society.

Afghan women and girls played a pivotal role throughout the history of their country. It is essential they continue to play this role and their hard-won rights are protected.

In 1919, Afghan women became eligible to vote before many other nations. The first girls’ school was opened in 1921 and the 1964 constitution ushered in equality for all.

As the situation changes daily, these enormous gains may be eroded. Women, boys and girls made up close to half of all civilian casualties during the past twenty years, comprising 46 percent of all civilian casualties. 80 per cent of nearly a quarter of a million Afghans forced to flee.

Almost half of the people in Afghanistan are facing extreme hunger – Afghanistan’s economy has collapsed over the past year. The combination of a prolonged drought, soaring food prices and job losses have pushed around 25 million Afghans into poverty, with more than half the population now reliant on humanitarian aid to survive. Foreign development aid has come to a grinding halt.

Three quarters of people’s incomes is now spent on food. Six million people are teetering on the brink of famine and 1 million children face severe malnourishment.

NDRO believes that there are vulnerable households as well as children and women in Afghanistan who are in need of immediate help and support in the current situation as they ever needed before.  We put in every effort for national mobilization and solidarity to raise voice for hunger relief, recover lives in crises and support women and children as the main focus groups. It is indispensible to support the children, boys and girls, have access to education and development in the society.  NDRO is also committed to be connected and work closely with the civil society, humanitarian assistance organizations, women activists/ advocates, community elders, religious leaders and national/ international NGOs for the main objective of recovering lives at crisis.

NDRO is also working with a large group of volunteers to mobilize the community as well as religious leaders and influential personalities to support the above objectives as Champions for Social Support of the most vulnerable group of the society as well as women and children.

NDRO’s Response

NDRO calls for urgent interventions to support children, women and families who are in dire need of basic shelter and food requirements. This includes mobilization of community and locals to put hands together and support their brothers and sisters being part of the same society as well as work with international communities and donor agencies to continue their great contributions and funds in this critical humanitarian response conditions.
NDRO is committed to stand along with Afghan people to help them overcome the challenges they face and prepare for a more peaceful future ahead for the country.
